Alquema proudly stands as an Australian-owned women’s clothing brand nestled in the picturesque city of Sydney.

Alquema founder, Virginia Rouse, has spent decades traversing the globe in pursuit of continuous inspiration, not only for fashion but for life itself. Starting Alquema journey as a photographer on film sets, Virginia honed Alquema eye for detail, structure, and textures. This passion led Alquema to venture into filmmaking, where Alquema adeptly created and captured worlds—a language effortlessly translated into Alquema designs.

During Alquema travels to Japan in the 90s, Virginia encountered the art of Shibori. Enchanted by the movement and textural richness of this ancient Japanese craft, she delved deeper into its intricacies, forever expanding and refining Alquema artistic expression.

At Alquema core lies a commitment to handcrafted, artistic creations—not just in the clothing Alquema designs or the fabrics Alquema selects, but also in the essence of the women Alquema are.
